Dozens of Trees in Seribu Islands Pruned to Prevent Falling

Trees prone to falling or breaking in several areas of the Seribu Islands have been pruned by the Technical Work Unit (UKT) 2's Parks and Urban Forest Section. Between November 10 and 13, 2025, a total of 50 trees were successfully pruned.

We continue to take preventive measures to avoid unwanted things

UKT 2's Parks and City Forest Section Head, Irfan Damanhuri said, tree pruning is a routine activity based on monitoring results, leadership orders, and follow-up on residents' complaints.

"We continue to take preventive measures to avoid unwanted things. Tree pruning is also done to prevent falling branches or trees from toppling due to the frequent extreme weather conditions lately," he expressed, Friday (11/14).

Rainy Season, Tree Pruning in South Jakarta Intensified

This is focused on five inhabited islands that also serve as tourist destinations. Those five islands are Kelapa Island, Sabira, Harapan, Tidung, and Lancang Island.

"We prune the branches that already look lush and fragile. Most of them are types of Ketapang Laut, Waru, Sukun, and Cemara Laut. They are indeed tall already," he explained.

They are committed to continuing to prune trees that are already prone to falling.

He continues to urge residents to stay away from trees that are deemed at risk of falling or are heavily laden, and to report immediately if they see trees with such characteristics.

"The most important thing is the safety and comfort of the surrounding residents. We also regularly plant trees to ensure the greenery is maintained," he added.

This action received appreciation from one of the residents from Lancang Island, Pari Island Urban Village, Iswatun Hasanah (35).

"With this, we feel more comfortable and safe. When the tree is already leaning, residents will report it immediately," she stated.
